Offerings or Giving

Updated: Jul 16, 2022

Proverbs 11:24-25

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered

Why Give:

1. Thanks

2. To build godliness - Fear of God, become generous & kill worldly desires

3. Invest in Kingdom (Be Fruitful and Multiply)

Mathew 6:19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be"

Principle of Giving:

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

2 Corinthians 9: 6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

  1. Receive in the proportion you give

  2. Be a cheerful giver

Mark 12: 41-43 "Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.

3. It is not about how much you give, it is about how well you give. The offering is a form of sacrifice.

There are three models of giving

  • Give all to God and live in Faith

  • Give all to God Except what you need to live

  • Keep a portion of all you have to God

Offering #1: Money and Wealth

Offering #2: Time

Offering #3: Yourself

The biggest form of sacrifice is to give yourself
